CERC has directed generating stations to introduce Help Desk to attend to the queries of beneficiaries with regard to Energy Charges. Contentious issues, if any, which arise regarding the energy charges should be sorted out with beneficiaries at Senior Management Level.
Accordingly, OTPC has introduced Help Desk for Energy Charges at OTPC which is managed by General Manager (Commercial). Details are as below:

011-22404700Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) was constituted as an autonomous, statutory body on 25th July 1998 under the Electricity Regulatory Commission Act, 1998. Further, even under Electricity Act 2003, CERC has been mandated to regulate the tariff of generating companies owned or controlled by the Central Government and generating companies other than those owned or controlled by the Central Government if such generating companies enter into or otherwise have a composite scheme for generation and sale of electricity in more than one state.
Electricity Act 2003 was enacted and notified in the Gazette of India on 2nd June, 2003.
EA 2003 is an Act to consolidate the laws relating to generation, transmission, distribution, trading and use of electricity and generally for taking measures conducive to development of electricity industry by promoting competition therein, protecting interest of consumers and supply of electricity to all areas, rationalisation of electricity tariff, ensuring transparent policy regarding subsidies, promotion of efficient and environmentally benign policies, constitution of Central Electricity Authority, Regulatory Commissions and establishment of Appellate Tribunal and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
